The Typical Surfactant: Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate(SCI) is a mild surfactant extracted from coconut. It can be used in a variety of cosmetic formulations. Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is a foaming and cleaning ingredient. It makes your skin feel soft and smooth. This is an ingredient for products such as soaps, bath bombs, bubble sticks and shampoos. Recommended usage rate: 3%-20%.


Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate has been used for decades in mild, high-foaming personal cleansing products, where it provides gentle cleansing and a soft sin afterfeel which consumer prefer. Its predominant commercial use has been in syndet bar formulations, but in recent years it has been used increasingly on other products foams as well, notably in combo bars, in foaming facial washes and body washes.
